First day of school in Bulgaria – Bella

Comparing with my motherland, school year in Bulgaria is starting a little behind. On 15th of September Slovak students are cracking books for not less than 2 weeks. We were honored to be part of the 1st-day ceremony in one modest school in the village next to Kazanlak.

This pleasant custom is, in actual fact, very clean and uncomplicated but still truly delightful. Juniors before entering their school life are reading some children’s poems,  older pupils holding the flag of the school, the director has a speech to encourage whole youth to be motivated during the year and then there is a time to listen to the aged student’s anthem. Thereafter teachers with their classes go to the classrooms to discuss main points of the upcoming school year and other additional information.

The school we have visited is one from the smaller in the region. Even though, they are trying to give their students as much as they can, also if it means to write a plenty of projects for the European Union which is sometimes difficult. The result is worthy by all means – new equipment and better conditions as same as for students thus for teachers.
