Bringing the Christmas spirit to the municipal dog shelter
Recently, we volunteers had the chance to volunteer at a public, non-profit dog shelter in Kazanlak. The non-profit shelter takes in healthy, adoptable dogs from streets and owners who can no longer care for them. As space allows, they also select healthy adoptable dogs from other local animal welfare agencies too. Our volunteer job at the centre was to socialize with the dogs and we also bought them food items and medical supplies. Homeless pets that receive regular human contact have a better chance at being adopted, so spending quality time with these animals made it more likely for them to find a forever home. It was an amazing opportunity for all of us to spend some quality time with the man’s best friend.
