Our experience in the Tryavna Fun Навън Festival

On the past 14th of August we were heading to Tryavna, where the festival Fun Навън, organised by the NGO Промяната е в Tеб (The Change is in You), was waiting for us. We always enjoy the train trips in Bulgaria, passing through the mountains is an experience in itself. We liked Tryavna since we got off the train there. The vibes were really nice and inspiring and it was confirmed during the weekend. We were warmly welcome by the members of the organisation and the volunteers. Actually, we were lucky to sleep at their house as it is in the beautiful mountain area, and feels like in the middle of nowhere. We spent a very relaxing afternoon, enjoying their swimming pool, getting ready for the festival.

So on Friday, the first day of the event, we visited the beautiful city centre, riverside, we met the people at workshops and locals also. All of the varied workshops were related to sustainability and we were astonished by the idea of Historical Park near Varna. People of all ages could find activities for themselves. Various handicraft workshops were set up for children (as a matter of fact we enjoyed also). The ‘Big Bubbles’, dancing and theatre performances were attractive for everyone, the aerial yoga was exciting and chilling in hammocks made an awesome atmosphere. To finish the day, one concert by the famous Bulgarian band “епизод” and the projection of some short movies near by the river.

On saturday morning, we could enjoy more workshops in the park, another theatre performance and of course, we had the time to continue exploring the town and try some delicious food. In the afternoon we also had the chance to learn more about the zero waste lifestyle. It is always a pleasure to listen to Blazhka Dimitrova and her experience, as it is so inspiring. After that, as a perfect ending, another music and cinema night, in this occasion with the performances of the bands “хaштaг” and “абсолют”, with an amazing fire show included in the middle.

We are looking forward to the next opportunity to visit Tryavna again and, of course, we will open our home in Kazanlak to welcome all those volunteers who made our stay there so great.

If you want to know more about the festival, stay tuned to our website! We will publish a video about it soon!
