Another mobility under the “Erasmus +” program, co-funded by the European Union, in which Youth Development Center – Mutual Aid participated, took place in Murzasichle (Zakopane), Poland, between 18.11. and 26.11.2023 with the hosting organization “Grupa Dzialania”. The project entitled “Visual AIDs in Youth Work” was a training course related to the introduction of visual and graphic aids in youth work. Four youth workers from Bulgaria took part in it, together with Atanas Mitev – group leader and trainer during the project.

During the event, 30 youth workers from 8 countries developed skills in expressing ideas visually. In the first days, activities to improve group dynamics were held. In connection with this, the participants visited Zakopane (better known as the “winter capital” of Poland) and spent several hours there, as part of a themed “treasure hunt”.

“Our trip to Zakopane was unforgettable. We had the opportunity to spend time not only in the city, but also in nature. We walked in the mountains, from where we had a view of part of the high peaks of the Tatras. I positively appreciate the time spent in Zakopane, it was useful for group cohesion,” says Alex, a participant from Spain.

After the first days of the project, the participants gradually got into the topic. Introductory activities were related to the basic rules of graphic facilitation. In the work, the methods of non-formal education were used. In groups, the participants put into practice what they had learned.

“The project was presented in a simple and understandable way. I learned quite a few principles that will be useful for me as I study advertising graphics at school. I highly recommend the project,” says Leticia, a participant from Bulgaria.

A key part of the project was the digitization of the graphic materials developed by the youth workers. The participants got familiar with Adobe Illustrator – specialized software for working with vector graphics.

Intercultural evenings were held as a part of the Erasmus+ programme. Each national team presented local cuisine, sights, customs and traditions.

The participants from Bulgaria represented our country appropriately and were active participants in the mobility. The team selected by Youth Development Center – Mutual Aid received an appreciation for their work.
